Lazz had his first cartoon published in a comic when he was just 10 years old. That was in 1971 and for his achievement he received a postal order for £1! From that moment, he was hooked and has been penciling humorous scribblings to this very day. Even while serving in the Royal Marines, Lazz became well known for his cartoons and was often commisioned to design logos for his Unit’s sweatshirts. On discharge, he was employed in a security capacity for a leisure complex but was sacked after 6 months for drawing a cartoon about a health inspector who found a dead mouse inside one of their fridges. Lazz contacted the media and the following day, the story was plastered all over the tabloids including The Sun with the headline ‘JEST SACKED’ together with the cartoon that proved to be his nemesis - and the general manager of the complex was also duly sacked! Since that day, Lazz has enjoyed success providing cartoons for greetings card companies, newspapers and magazines up and down the country, including of course . . . The Sun!. While living in Suffolk he worked exclusively for Eastern Counties Newspapers hitting dealines with gags about local topical issues. Lazz has also illustrated for children's comics as well as supplied private commissions for corporate bodies inc. Pepsi Max, Boots, Punch etc. As well as an accomplishd cartoonist, Lazz is also a qualified picture framer and a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild.

Lazz says that most of his ideas have come from watching people inside pubs, which isn't surprising since he was once a Whitbread manager and has spent over 15 years running pubs all over London including Notting Hill, Kings Cross, Euston and even inside the Square Mile where he was once arrested for arson and robbery when the flagship city pub he was running was targeted in a safe robbery and then destroyed in a blaze! However, after a weekend banged up in the police cells, he was released without charge when one of his bar staff confessed to the crime! Even now Lazz still holds a personal licence and occasionally is asked by London pub operators to look after a pub whose manager has done a runner with the takings! In fact, Lazz’s vast experiences in the licenced trade has inspired him to write a book based on the pub trade and the characters that they attract, illustrated of course with his own cartoons and in particular a new strip cartoon about a publican. He hopes to have it published later this year and if his previous articles and cartoons to newspapers are anything to go by, where angry readers have written in, calling upon him to ‘leave town’, declaring him ‘selfish beyond belief, and a sad and disgusting little man’ - then his satirical writings about peoples’ behaviour in pubs, should make interesting reading indeed. In fact one of his more recent pieces was even published in the Washington Times after journalists across the atlantic contacted him, and other comments published by The Times newspaper created sufficient interest to be read out 'twice' by Jeremy Vine on his Radio 2 daytime show! Recent antics, including betting William Hill Bookmakers that he would be struck by lightning (rather than ever winning the lottery), even managed to hit the headlines in the USA and he was subsequently interviewed on Sky News. They accepted his bet and he is due for a £10,000 windfall if indeed he is hit and survives a lightning stike. The bet lasts his entire lifetime and Lazz says he is now considering taking up storm-chasing.

Lazz, who also owned an art gallery and picture framing studio until recently, is also a keen art collector whose favourite artist he says, is undoubtedly the late, great, Robert Lenkiewicz.
